Hexogon Solution played a crucial role at Singapore’s 50th birthday celebrations by providing spectacular visuals that captivated tens of thousands of spectators who attended the festivities on August 9, 2015.
The stunning projection mapping performances were planned and executed by Hexogon Solution Pte Ltd at three locations comprising the Padang (venue of the National Day Parade), the world famous Sentosa Merlion and the iconic Fullerton Hotel. More than 120 Christie projectors comprising the debut of the Boxer 4K30 and Roadster HD20K-J were deployed to display rich and colorful multimedia content, including 3D effects, that enhanced the scale and grandeur of the celebrations befitting of Singapore’s Golden Jubilee, also known as SG50. This is the first time that the Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors are used for a national event in Singapore since its launch in January this year.
Adrian Goh, managing director, Hexogon Solution, commented, “The SG50 celebration is one of our key projects for this year and we are committed to deliver an unforgettable projection mapping spectacle during the National Day Parade (NDP).
For the projections at the NDP, 64 Christie Boxer 4K30s were installed above the National Gallery of Singapore to create a canvas area measuring 100m by 70m on the performance floor. Besides displaying visual contents exceeding 4K resolution on the floor of the Padang, the added clarity and brilliance of the images allowed us to create beautiful motion graphics that offered depth to the formations in the mass display items, and complemented the movements of the 3,500 performers on the two-tiered stage.
Besides the Parade venue, we also deployed four Boxer 4K30 projectors to deliver an amazing eight-minute projection mapping show on the façade of the gigantic Sentosa Merlion as part of the SG50 celebrations. The hourly show runs nightly from August 1-31.
Over at the Fullerton Hotel at Marina Bay, the team set up 53 Roadster HD20K-J projectors that were used to deliver the highly-anticipated projection mapping shows on the enormous façade of the famous landmark, which extended the National Day festivities beyond the Padang – which was where the first NDP was held in 1966. The eight-minute show – performed hourly every night from August 1-9 – featured milestones of Singapore’s history that took place in the civic district.
The end result was a mesmerizing NDP and grand finale which saw projection contents synchronized across all three locations in a splash of splendid colors using the National Flag and SG50 logo as the main motifs. And at exactly 2015hrs, Singaporeans island-wide rallied together to recite the National Pledge – a moment that touched the hearts of all citizens as everyone pledged themselves anew as one united people.
Reflecting on the event, one of the biggest that Hexogon Solution has participated in, Goh said, “Even though it had been a challenging and very labor intensive project where we had to run the show at three locations concurrently and monitor more than 120 Christie projectors installed, it was a valuable experience for us.
